Marian Bradfield - singer/songwriter and performer - has been a stalwart of the Irish music scene for over 30 years. Based in Donegal, she has to date, penned four studio albums and 1 live album. She is – together with all the other wonder female performers, one of the original Celtic Women and has appeared on several compilations to date including Celtic Woman 1 & 2 to name but a few.
Her first studio album entitled “Marian" was released in 1993 to critical praise from both the media and Hot Press saying; “She pours her heart and rich palette of emotions...over a debut album of thirteen self-penned tracks of the quality most major artists would willingly sacrifice their lawyers for". Her second studio album "Tonight Is Just For Us" released in October 1995, again to critical acclaim, was also nominated for one of Ireland's prestigious IRMA awards and saw her voted by the readers of Hot Press and a panel of top music industry judges as one of Ireland's Top Ten Female Singer/Songwriters and Solo Performers.
Chance friendships formed on tours and concerts over the next few years saw the likes of Finbar Fury, Mairtin O'Connor and Jimmy Faulkner asking to be part of her next project and this saw her third studio album "The Emperors Field", produced by Pat Donne and released in September 1997 - again to critical acclaim not only by the media but to her Irish and ever increasing U.S. and European fan base also. Her fourth album "Marian Bradfield Live" recorded on tour in Holland and launched in May 2004 is described by one radio DJ as "an album that draws you into the very powerful intimate world of her live performance and leaves you breathless".
Her list of appearances on live shows over the years, reads like the who's who of the Irish TV and Radio scene. In concerts at home and abroad she has appeared with the likes of Aslan, Altan, Moya Brennan(Clannad), The Furey's, Liam O'Flynn, Paddy Glacken, Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine, Jimmy Mc Carthy and The Chieftains to name only a few. Her fifth album “Secret Life Of A Woman“ – produced by Martin McAllister & Owen Smith - was recorded and released in 2006 and again gained her tremendous praise and respect from the critics and the music industry both as a writer and performer with great insight into the secret lives that all of us guard and protect deeply.
As her career progressed both as a performer and a writer the mid 2000’s saw her start a new part of her music adventures co-writing and collaborating with some wonderful U.S. performers and writers from Nashville, Chicago, and Alabama. In the last few years she has been collaborating with the legendary “Hall of Fame” member and ace harmonica player Charlie McCoy. This collaboration has produced some stunning tracks which have been included on Charlie’s albums in the U.S and soon to be released albums here in Ireland.
